Drawing on a dataset of over 20 million DMCA notices archived by Lumen, he is investigating how takedown requests are used not only to protect intellectual property, but also to remove harmful AI-generated content such as deepfakes, and - more concerningl - to suppress speech or erase lawful material. His project aims to surface patterns of misuse and propose safeguards to make takedown systems more accountable, transparent, and resistant to abuse.
