Daji Landis, Faculty Associate Elettra Bietti, and alum Sunoo Park address security vs. interoperability (SvI) arguments in antitrust and regulatory proceedings against Big Tech. In a paper forthcoming in IEEE European Symposium on Security and Privacy, the authors present a taxonomy of SvI discourses, an analytical framework for addressing such concerns, and a comparative analysis highlighting key considerations across their diverse case studies. They "hope [their] contributions provide an actionable framework for the security community’s deeper interdisciplinary engagement with lawyers, regulators, and policymakers to clarify and mitigate potential security harms in the context of antitrust."
