Sahana Udupa and coauthors explore regulatory efforts toward curtailing extreme speech on encrypted messaging platforms such WhatsApp. The authors present a number of recommendations to allow for regulation with compromising users' security, including at the level of platform governance: "Encrypted messaging platforms should participate in applying a contextually responsive industry-wide code of conduct grounded in international human rights principles."
