A Roadmap for Confronting the Chilling Effects of Censorship, Surveillance and New Technology

Faculty Associate Jon Penney joins TPP's Justin Hendrix to discuss his new book, Chilling Effects: Repression, Conformity, and Power in the Digital Age. Chilling Effects explores the ways that digital surveillance threatens to repress and control populations, describing how "in the face of certain threats, a legal threat, privacy threat, even a personal threat of violence, we have this tendency to self-censor and self-restrain our behavior for self-protective reasons."
