In an LPE Project collection, Anupam Chander and Elettra Bietti offer unenthusiastic reactions to the TikTok legislation passed by the US House of Representatives.
Chander notes that "[w]e should worry when politicians target a foreign-owned speech platform because of the content it carries."
Bietti adds that "[i]f Americans’ rights to free expression and privacy are to mean anything, they must entail protections against the government and against foreign and US data and speech intermediaries."
