Special Projects Research Assistant to Jonathan Zittrain
Part-time, 15-30 hours per week based on availability
Summer 2025 (June 1 - August 31)
Professor Jonathan Zittrain has worked on projects related to the ethics and governance of artificial intelligence; agentic AI protocols and risk mitigations; battles for control of digital property; privacy frameworks; the roles of intermediaries within Internet architecture; and the useful and unobtrusive deployment of technology in education.
In the upcoming year, he will be diving further into projects related to machine learning and artificial intelligence and seeks a special projects research assistant over summer 2025 to support this work
The intern will work directly with Professor Zittrain and BKC's Senior Research Coordinator, Brigitte Fink, on a variety of projects across the summer. Applicants should have an interest in machine learning and/or artificial intelligence, public policy, and digital and internet issues.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in a related field, or have relevant work experience
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Project management experience
- Digital law/policy experience is strongly favored
- Technical expertise is not necessary for this role
Additional Information:
- Preference will be given to candidates who are available to spend part of their time in person at BKC’s offices in Cambridge, MA.

- Compensation is the standard rate for Harvard students in RA positions of $21/hour.
