BKC's Chief Technologist Greg Leppert details the collaboration between the Boston Public Library, HLS, and OpenAI to make BPL's archive of historical documents more accessible to the public. Leppert "said it is not the goal of the initiative to grant AI companies privileged access to the rich troves of out-of-copyright information held at libraries and archives," but instead to create accessibility improvements that are reflected back into the libraries.
