Sean Harvey is a Berkman Fellow focused on improving digital discourse with artificial intelligence.
He serves as Staff Product Manager & AI Expert at the Department of Homeland Security, where he was the first hire for DHS' AI Corps. At DHS he focuses on improving US supply chain resiliency, protecting critical US infrastructure and ensuring that all AI projects at DHS comply with rigorous standards to protect public safety and civil rights.
Previously Sean was a 20-year product leader at Google and before that DoubleClick. Among his accomplishments at Google are launching the Page Experience program at Google Search, which radically reduced global Web latency by over 350 years per month; modernizing and upgrading YouTube Trust & Safety's approach to human review tooling, misinformation, disinformation & deepfakes, global elections, identity security and fake user engagement; and launching the industry's first dynamic ad serving in linear television.
Sean is also publisher of The Roko Report, a weekly newsletter on AI that is part substantive and part satirical called The Roko Report. Previously he authored travel guides for the Rough Guides series.
