Ryan Y. Kellett was most recently a 2025 Nieman-Berkman Klein fellow for Journalism Innovation at Harvard University.
He is a journalist, media executive, and industry consultant. His work is mainly around the intersection of the creator economy and journalism and the practical implications for publishers and journalists. Ryan is a co-founder of the "Going Solo" course, designed for traditional journalists transitioning into content creation. He was most recently the vice president of audience at Axios Media since 2021 and previously spent 11 years at The Washington Post.
At The Post, he guided the organization through the rise of mobile/social internet publishing, quadrupling readership globally and massively expanding subscriptions. He was additionally an author of the proposal on comments and communities that became The Coral Project. Kellett and his teams have won multiple Edward R. Murrow, WAN-IFRA, and Webby awards. He got his start at NPR where he was selected as the first-ever social media intern. He is the treasurer of the Online News Association and is joining the board of The Conversation US this year.
