Urs Gasser speaks before the FTC on Interoperability

Berkman fellow Urs Gasser spoke at today's Federal Trade Commission's hearings on Protecting Consumers in the Next Tech-ade.  Speaking as the event's "European voice," Urs highlighted the digital rights management (DRM) issues both legal and regulatory in Europe, and a focus was placed upon DRM interoperability.

Urs provides us with a written version of his hearing statement:

"...At the European level, though, no coherent DRM interoperability framework exists, although DRM interoperability has been identified as an emerging issue by the European Commission, which has established - among other things - a multi-stakeholder High Level Group on DRM that has also addressed DRM interoperability issues..."

Urs has placed his full testimony from the FTC hearing up at his blog.
