The AI Agents of Tomorrow Need Data Integrity

Affiliate Bruce Schneier and coauthor Davi Ottenheimer argue that the emergence of AI agents in the (near) Web 3.0 future necessitates data integrity, in the sense that users should understand why trust in digital agents arises. Input, processing, storage, and contextual integrity are all critical for autonomous systems where human oversight is lessened. In IEEE Spectrum, the authors write: "Governments worldwide are introducing rules for AI that focus on data accuracy, transparent algorithms, and verifiable claims about system behavior. Integrity provides the basis for meeting these legal obligations."
