IAPP and The Berkman Klein Center at Harvard University jointly present Navigate: A Digital Policy Leadership Retreat

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — 30 Oct. 2024 — The Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University announces its partnership with the IAPP to present Navigate: A Digital Policy Leadership Retreat from 25-26 June 2025 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

The collaboration between the IAPP and the Berkman Klein Center follows the recent expansion of the IAPP’s mission, as a global professional association, to define, promote, and improve the professions of privacy, AI governance, and digital responsibility globally, as well as the launch of its Cybersecurity Law Center. For more than 25 years, the Berkman Klein Center has worked to understand cyberspace, and to shape its future in the many conceptions of the public good, including initiatives related to data privacy, cybersecurity, digital governance, and combatting a range of online harms. At this retreat, the two organizations will be uniquely placed to gather leaders across industry, academia, government, and civil society to explore and shape digital responsibility globally.

“In launching the Navigate Retreat together with the Berkman Klein Center, we will provide government, business, academic, and civil society leaders the space for collaborative discussions on how to address the complex web of digital regulation, risk, and responsibility,” said IAPP President and CEO J. Trevor Hughes.

"AI and machine learning are becoming embedded across society without substantial reflection on their implications for us – in part because no one has responsibility for a big picture. We need collaborative, honest, and technically -grounded conversation across sectors — and the Navigate Retreat with IAPP will help make that possible," said Prof. Jonathan Zittrain, Director of the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society.

Registration for Navigate will begin in early 2025 with additional information on speakers and attendee fees. To learn more about the IAPP, please visit iapp.org. To learn more about the Berkman Klein Center, please visit cyber.harvard.edu/.
