Following a recent breach of student data, BKC faculty associate Leah Plunkett explains why it is difficult to enforce the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
“We have this group of people, our kids, who we tend to see – in all legal situations – as deserving greater protection,” Plunkett says. “FERPA has a lot of obligation for districts and school entities, without a lot of realistic remedy.”
