Thousands of people around the world are labeling the data that enables the creation of artificial intelligence, but it’s rarely talked about.

“This is an expanding world, hidden beneath the technology,” says BKC fellow Mary Gray, whose co-authored the book Ghost Work,” which explores the data labeling market. “It is hard to take humans out of the loop.”
