Faculty fellow Judith Donath argues against a ban on facial recognition in this Medium post, suggesting instead that “we need to seek regulation based on the qualities and capabilities of the technology, not the technology itself.” Donath proposes a list of categories that could be used as a starting point for developing a taxonomy for thinking through privacy-enhanced identifying technologies.
