Arun "Vish" Vishwanath is Associate Professor of Communication at the University at Buffalo.

His research is on the "people problems" of cyber security. His work focuses on improving individual, organizational, and national resilience to cyber attacks by focusing on the weakest links in cyber security—Internet users.

His particular interest is in understanding why people fall victim to social engineering attacks and on finding ways we can harness our understanding of cyber-psychology and human behavior to build defenses that can prevent it.  He also examines how various groups–-criminal syndicates, terrorist networks, hacktivists–-utilize cyber space to commit crime, spread mis-information, recruit operatives, and radicalize others.
