This year, the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University turns 30. We’re marking the occasion with BKC@30, a year-long celebration of three decades of (net)work and whimsy, and we’ll be ringing it in with our interdisciplinary community of researchers, technologists, educators, policymakers, and other practitioners from around the world.

And you! We invite you to join us this September for student and community programming, stories from across BKC’s history, dynamic discourse on what lies ahead in AI and digital technology, and more. And stay tuned for plenty more throughout the academic year...come on back to 1996 and enjoy the ride through history.

What Rough Beast...? On AI’s Potential to Surpass Humanity”

BKC kicks off its 2026-27 Speaker Series, All Too Human: How AI is Changing the Ways We Make Meaning, coordinated in partnership with FAS' Public Culture Project. As we navigate AI’s role in our lives and society, how is it changing our sense and practice of our humanity? How can we shape its development and our use of it to strengthen human agency, dignity, and genuine connection? Join us to explore if AI represents a new Copernican moment? Not because it moves us in the cosmos, but because it unsettles our sense of what makes us central, distinct, and human.

Student Open House

BKC opens its doors to students and the Harvard community to share opportunities to learn more about projects, upcoming events, and opportunities to get involved. The session will include a faculty panel, networking, and plenty of time to connect with other students, staff, and faculty who share an interest in technology policy in the public interest.
