The perils of seeking empathy from a chatbot

Co-Founder, Director, and Faculty Chair Jonathan Zittrain considers the ethical implications of how we communicate and connect with LLMs. In a panel on April 30, Zittrain cautions: “[Chatbots are] the poor man’s version of artisanal contact with a human being, and will provide a crutch so that we never have to provide” real human-to-human interaction.
