Affiliate Maria Xynou and colleagues investigate Iran's blocking of women's rights websites, finding that censorship may both truncate the women's movement in the country and inspire creativity, solidarity, and innovation among activists. They find: "The blocking of women’s rights websites has generally limited access to information, slowed down the process of raising awareness, and increased the cost and time required to access resources" if activists need to configure workarounds.
