Social media platforms and challenges for democracy, rule of law and fundamental rights

BKC Faculty Associate Beatriz Botero Arcila and collaborator Rachel Griffin release a study commissioned by the European Parliament’s Policy Department for Citizens’ Rights and Constitutional Affairs that examines risks that social media presents for democracy and fundamental rights.

"The challenge for policymakers is thus to strengthen accountability and oversight of social media in order to protect citizens against such threats, without curtailing access to the many benefits that they provide."
