Manifesto for Sex Positive Social Media

Zahra Stardust and collaborators set out seven demands for platforms, governments, and policymakers.

As part of her Berkman Klein fellowship, Zahra Stardust organized a Community Lab at RightsCon 2021 on "Alternative Frameworks for Sexual Content Moderation." The Lab was facilitated with Dr. Emily van der Nagel, Prof. Katrin Tiidenberg, Jiz Lee, Em Coombes, and Assoc./Prof. Mireille Miller Young.

Participants were concerned about platforms making private, arbitrary, and unaccountable decisions about the kinds of sex and sexualities that are visible in online spaces. The resulting manifesto sets out seven demands for platforms, governments, and policymakers to make social media more sex-positive. Explore, download, and sign the manifesto here:
