John Maldonado completed his PhD in the sociology department at Princeton University in 2022 and is currently a postdoctoral research associate at the School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. Prior to his role as an affiliate, John was a fellow at BKC. He has also been an affiliate of the Center for Information, Technology, and Public Life at the University of North Carolina.
He is currently working on a book project that explores conflicts over the role of science in public life, drawing on various case studies including the early 20th century eugenics movement and the COVID-19 pandemic. More broadly, he is interested in questions of expertise in democratic societies and the sociopolitical impacts of technological innovation.
