Eraldine Williams-Shakespeare is an Educator and certified Instructional Designer and Evaluator with over 23 years of experience in education.
She is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education and Liberal Studies at the University of Technology, Jamaica. Other professional engagements include serving in the post of Online Learning Coordinator for the Monmouth University in New Jersey, USA and working in technology with the Florida Center for Instructional Technology. She holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction – Instructional Technology from the University of South Florida, Tampa, a M.A. in Open Distance and Flexible Learning from the University of London, External College, a Bachelor of Education from the University of Technology, Jamaica and multiple graduate certificates from the University of South Florida and the University of Jilin, China.
An avid researcher, Eraldine has published several local peer reviewed book chapters, journals articles and has presented at several conferences both locally and internationally Her research interests are in: distance and online learning, interactions in the online learning environment, online learning communities and communities of practice, technologies in teacher education, curriculum development and planning, teacher education, online curricula and women in academia. Eraldine is passionate about the wellbeing of others and has served in executive positions in two academic unions.
Currently she is the Grievance Officer for the University of Technology of Technology, Academic Staff Union. Additionally, she serves as chair of the Northern Clarendon Heritage Foundation which was established to preserve the cultural, historical and geographical legacy of North Clarendon, Jamaica, and Chair is of the Board of Management, Brandon Hill Primary School.
