Dr. Eraldine Williams-Shakespeare is an educator and certified instructional designer and evaluator with over 24 years of experience.
She holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction – Instructional Technology, University of South Florida, and a M.A. in Open Distance and Flexible Learning, University of London. She is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education and Liberal Studies at the University of Technology, Jamaica.
An avid researcher, she has published in several local and international peer-reviewed journals and has research interests in distance and online learning, technologies in teacher education, curriculum development and planning, TVET teacher education, student satisfaction, and most recently, collaboration in academic unions and AI deployment and integration within the Caribbean.
The research work to be engaged through the centre will be on action research in teacher education, specifically, continued use of Nymspace, a pseudonymous tool to support student dialogue in a text based environment. She serves as Grievance Officer for the University of Technology Academic Staff Union (UTASU) and was recently elected to the role of Vice President.
She leads the professional development and visibility portfolio of the union, focusing on enhancing member engagement, scholarly dissemination, and public outreach. Her community involvements include, Chairman of the North Clarendon Heritage Foundation – a non-profit organization established to preserve the historical and cultural legacies of northern Clarendon, and Chairman of the Board of Management, Brandon Hill Primary School. She holds the view that service beyond self should be one’s goal.
