Social Processes of Online Hate

Where does online hate come from? How do these haters organize themselves to direct hate to certain people? Why do these campaigns of hate happen at all?

The Institute for Rebooting Social Media welcomed 2023-2024 Visiting Scholar Joe Walther to discuss his new edited volume, Social Processes of Online Hate, which examines and seeks to explain the social factors that facilitate the spread of hate messages across social media platforms. The conversation was moderated by Walther, who was joined by contributor and 2023-2024 BKC Fellow Sahana Udupa.
