Molly Shaffer Van Houweling graduated in June, 1998, from Harvard Law School, where she was Articles Editor of the Harvard Journal of Law & Technology. As a student, Molly was active in Berkman Center activities, serving as head teaching fellow for the Berkman Center's inaugural cybercourse, "Privacy in Cyberspace." In 1998-99 Molly was a full-time Berkman Center fellow, researching application of the state action doctrine to private Internet content filtering and developing the curriculum for Harvard's "Internet and Society" course. She also helped spearhead the Berkman Center's efforts to work jointly with law schools, law firms, and other organizations interested in emerging Internet policy issues. Molly was also Senior Advisor to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) from November, 1998 to June, 1999. She is currently law clerk to Judge Michael Boudin, United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

Molly graduated in 1994 from the University of Michigan, where she was a political science major and captain of the UM synchronized swimming team. Between college and law school, Molly worked at the U.S. Department of Commerce, Technology Administration, managing an ongoing international project for online environmental information sharing.
