Jasmine McNealy and coauthor Yewande O. Addie summarize the results of their recent Oxford-published study in which they found that AI-generated health messaging (and traditional messaging) failed to deliver communications that were both accurate and culturally resonant. The upshot? We need well-governed generative AI if such technologies are to be implemnented into health communications. "International funders and tech companies should be required to demonstrate meaningful community co-design in their AI health projects, not just superficial cultural adaptation."
