“None of our platforms are built for truth…the truth is boring, the truth is not very scandalous, and so the actual technology itself is trained on sending you things that are outrageous,” she says. “We need to get back to basics when it comes to making sure that our information systems serve the broadest public interest, which includes making sure that there’s room for timely, local, and relevant information -- which you don’t get from the Internet anymore.”
