Student Leaders In AI
Harvard Student Leaders in AI (SLAI) is a student-led initiative bringing Harvard University students together to share their curiosity, interest, and expertise related to artificial intelligence.
With support from faculty and staff, SLAI creates an interdisciplinary environment for exploring AI development, policy, and ethics. The program is hosted and facilitated by the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society.
Program Overview
- Schedule: SLAI runs every Spring semester, meeting biweekly on Wednesday evenings (6:15–8:00pm) from February through early May.
- Commitment: Participants must attend most sessions and collaborate on a group project with their peers in the cohort.
- Eligibility: Open to actively enrolled Harvard students at any level (priority given to Harvard students over visiting students or fellows).
- Applications: Applications are released in January and selections are made before the first session in early February.
What You’ll Experience
SLAI provides a chance to connect with peers across Harvard’s schools while delving into real-world AI topics and projects.
“I find Harvard to be quite bifurcated between its schools, many times requiring a lot of effort to meet and connect with people who are not in your school. SLAI enabled me to form meaningful connections with people from various Harvard schools who are interested in the same thing as me—making AI impactful in the world...the program helped me realise that I have a lot more to think about.”
