Sarah Genner is a Senior Researcher at Zurich University for Applied Sciences in Switzerland and a Visiting Researcher at Harvard University from September 2014 to August 2015. Her current work on digital media and society focuses on media psychology and youth - but hails from a diverse academic background that also includes media and communications studies, political science, and linguistics. Her publications include a recent tech trends report for the Swiss government, a guidebook for parents and teachers on digital media education, representative surveys on media use, and a book chapter on cyberbullying and violent video games in the IT and Law series of Asser Press, The Hague. Her research project ON/OFF analyzes if and why individuals stay or go offline. The goal is to find out more about differences in behavior and attitudes on online connectivity across various cultures, age groups, personalities, and occupations. The results are intended to serve companies and schools when making decisions on online connectivity policies and regulations.
