Sue Gardner

Sue Gardner is executive-in-residence at Pierre Omidyar's First Look, and is the former longtime executive director of the Wikimedia Foundation. She's on the boards of Global Voices, the Sunlight Foundation, and the Wiki Education Foundation, and is an advisor to the Committee To Protect Journalists. She was a founding board member of the Ada Initiative, a nonprofit aimed at increasing women's participation in the free culture movement, open source technology and open culture. Previously she ran CBC.CA, the website of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, where she was also a journalist for many years. Sue's work with the Berkman Center will focus on financial sustainability of purpose-driven tech, with a particular emphasis on privacy, internet freedom tools and anti-surveillance work.
