Seán Boddy is an AI safety and geopolitics researcher whose work focuses on the governance, security, and social implications of advanced AI. His research bridges technical innovation, policy design, and international security, with an emphasis on translating frontier research into actionable governance frameworks.

As a Research Coordinator,  Seán supports the center’s AI workstreams, including research on AI agents and misalignment. He helps communicate technical findings for policy and security audiences, and his work has been presented at AI and policy venues, contributing to ongoing debates on AI safety, regulation, and global security.

Prior to joining the Berkman Klein Center, Seán was an AI safety researcher at a leading trust and safety startup, where he supported numerous FAANG companies in reducing bias and mitigating harm from their frontier AI models. He also has extensive experience in geopolitical risk analysis and information operations research. His work identified covert state-sponsored disinformation and propaganda campaigns worldwide and advised major international corporations on global affairs and security.

Seán holds an MLitt in Middle East, Caucasus, and Central Asian Security Studies from the University of St Andrews and a BA in Government and Spanish from Colby College. He’s currently pursuing an MSc in Data Science from Trinity College Dublin to inform his technical work on AI. Seán speaks Spanish, French, and Persian, and is an avid fan of test match rugby.
