Jia Wang

Jia Wang is an LLD candidate at the Law Faculty of Stellenbosch University (near completion) with her research focus on copyright exceptions and the public interest in the areas of education and research. She has been a Department Director of the Open Constitution Initiative, one of the most influential legal NGOs in China. As a Berkman fellow, she will conduct research on the development of the public sphere in cyberspace and the influence of the Internet as well as various social media on the political ecology in China.

Jia Wang has written on various copyright and technology-related issues. Her recent articles include “Should China Adopt an Extended Licensing System to Facilitate Collective Copyright Administration” (discussing the copyright collective societies in China), and “Anti-circumvention Rules in the Information Network Environment in the US, UK and China: A Comparative Study”.

Jia Wang’s research interests include intellectual property law, technology and policy, and international business transaction laws.
