Call for Papers: International Dimensions of Cybersecurity

Call to the Harvard Community
Papers on International Dimensions of Cybersecurity

Harvard Law School Professor Jack Goldsmith is issuing a call for papers on the international dimensions of cybersecurity, broadly conceived. The topic potentially can be approached from any perspective, including law, policy, economics, technology, etc.

Interested Harvard faculty members or students should apply no later than May 14, 9:00 a.m. ET, to Professor Jack Goldsmith, via his assistant Jan Qashat (qashat@law.harvard.edu), with a resume and a one-page abstract of the proposed paper that includes an explanation of the paper's contribution to the literature and estimates its length.

For those projects that are accepted, first drafts will be due no later than June 28, and final papers will be due by the end of September, 2010.  Accepted papers will be included in the Minerva working paper series that is posted on Harvard Kennedy School and MIT web pages, and are also eligible to be published elsewhere.

A stipend of up to $4,000 is available for each paper. One half of the payment will be made upon the acceptance of the proposed paper topic in May, and one half will be paid upon receipt of the first draft in June.

This project is sponsored by the Minerva Initiative, a DoD-sponsored, university-based social science basic research program initiated by the Secretary of Defense. It focuses on areas of strategic importance to US national security policy and seeks to increase the department’s intellectual capital in the social sciences, improve its ability to address future challenges, and build bridges between the department and the social science community.
