Apply to come work with us on open source development projects this summer!
We're pleased to announce that BKC has been selected as a mentoring organization for the Google Summer of Code (GSoC) 2018, a full-time internship which offers student developers stipends to contribute to free and open source projects. We're now looking to select developer-interns to help implement our academic vision into functional, open source software.
The Berkman Klein Center has nearly two dozen active open source software projects and strongly supports the values of the movement. "We are excited to provide an opportunity for rising coders to work on academic research with open source principles,” said BKC technology director Sebastian Diaz. "Academic groups are building and sharing cool things, too.”
By pairing university students with mentors at BKC, GSoC provides unique matchmaking opportunities for the Internet research community. Students mentored by Center staff and fellows in the past have come from diverse backgrounds and universities all over the world.
This summer, project opportunities for students include Internet Monitor, TagTeam, Media Cloud, Question Tool, and more. Applications opened March 12, 2018 and must be submitted through the GSoC website by March 27, 2018 at 16:00 (UTC).
