Global Voices Summit 2006 recapped

From across the world, Berkman Center Managing Director Colin Maclay has recapped this weekend's Global Voices Summit.  He writes:

"It’s been amazing to sit here in Delhi soaking up the success, dynamism, commitment, warmth, humor, wisdom and ambition of the Global Voices teamEthan and Rebecca began the public day of the Second Annual Summit by appropriately recognizing the amazing results of the community’s efforts, from the Knight Batten Innovations in Journalism award to the 1.1m unique monthly visitors, moved through next steps for GV – including becoming a non-profit organization, and rapidly plunged into the theme of the meeting: reaching beyond largely urban and technologically elite bloggers to more mainstream authors...

As Ethan and Rmack quickly receded to the back of the room, GV editors and authors took the reins, covering wide-ranging topics including outreach, translation, technologies, security and many other fundamental – and exciting – priorities moving forward...Aside from the invigoration which came as a result of the new ideas, it was abundantly clear that the ongoing transition from a founder-driven organization to one whose identity, vision and leadership extends deeply into the community, is palpable and very much on track."

As Colin notes, the bustle of the conference did not prevent the production of continuing coverage.  Folks were liveblogging throughout; images so colorful have been rounded up into a slideshow; postconference considerations big, small and varied have been shared from a great number of participants; and Global Voices co-founders Ethan and Rebecca have each posted their stories of the weekend.
