Today is Open Access Day!
SPARC (the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition), the Public Library of Science (PLoS), and Students for FreeCulture have organized the first international Open Access Day:
Open Access Day was created to help the higher education community and the public learn and understand more about the opportunities of wider access and use of content. In conjunction with OA Day:
- PLoS has launched a new video series, Voices of Open Access;
- campuses and libraries around the world are hosting events for OA Day live webcasts and other activities;
- and there are lots of ways to participate virtually.
To celebrate the day, we're highlighting Open Access talks from a few past Berkman events. Check them out, and please share widely.
From our Tuesday Luncheon series:
- live webcast today at 12:30PM ET! Stephen Schultze, Open Access to Government Documents
- Melanie Dulong de Rosnay, Openness for Life Science Databases
From the Berkman@10 speaker series:
- Peter Suber, What Can Universities Do to Promote Open Access?
- Catherine Candee, Whose knowledge is it? UC takes on IP
From the lead up to IS2K7: University: Knowledge Beyond Authority:
