Weinberger's Second Interview on Everything Miscellaneous

In the second part of a series of interviews for Wired Magazine, Berkman Fellow David Weinberger spoke with Markos Moulitsas Zuniga, more commonly known as Kos.  As the founder of one of the Web's most popular sites, DailyKos, Markos has unique insight into the advantages and disadvantages of user participation and has innovations of his own, on how they can best participate within the blog.

The interview looks at the methods imposed on a large online community to categorize interests and foster conversation most effectively, on a non-traditional news site.

Kos describes his format: "[T]here are two levels. The top level is the front page content, which is really dominated by my writings and those of the Daily Kos contributing editors.

"Then, you have the diaries side of the site, which is more chaotic. Anybody who has an account in good order can post diaries. I don't control that; I have no idea what's going on half of the time. They do their own organizing there...and it's very effective, I think, in its lawlessness."

The interview is available as both a podcast and a transcript on Wired's Epicenter blog and be sure to check out David's latest posts on his own blog and The Huffington Post.  David's latest book and inspiration for the interview series, Everything is Miscellaneous, is available on the Berkman Books page.
