IDP Congress on Internet, Politics and Law Wraps-Up

The 3rd IDP Congress on Internet, Law and Politics wraps up today in Barcelona, Spain following a number of great presentations and discussions.  Berkman Center Co-Founder Jonathan Zittrain and Executive Director John Palfrey both participated in yesterday's session, as panelists on "The new frontiers of copyright."

The Keynote speech was also delivered yesterday by Jonathan Zittrain, on "The Future of the Internet and How to Stop It," which happens to be the title of his next work, coming soon from Yale University Press.

John Palfrey recently posted his reflections on the series of intellectual property forums that he has participated in over the past month.  Regardless of which geographic location the conversations were taking place in, the issue of copyright and ownership on the Internet is one that is a constant and prevalent topic of debate.

Even last week, we saw how quickly a user-generated news site like Digg, can instantly find itself in the middle of a copyright controversy, where, like many Internet sites, it is forced to balance the alleged copyright holder's claims with its own obligation to its community of users.
