Campaign Online Town Hall Meeting Tonight

Seeking an escape from political debates whose minute details are negotiated at great length by campaigns and major media outlets, the liberal online community MoveOn.org, will stream live responses from Democratic candidates for president, tonight at 7 p.m., in their first Virtual Town Hall. 

The topic for tonight's debate - the first in a series of three - is the war in Iraq.  Seven candidates will phone-in to provide live responses to member-generated questions while more than 1000 registered gatherings across the country listen intently.  The Boston Globe reports that the number of members participating could exceed 10,000.

In what Adam Ruben, political director of MoveOn.org, called "politics 2.0," we are seeing the latest circumvention of traditional media, in favor of direct communication between the candidates and the voters.
