Global Voices Launches New Site

Congratulations to Global Voices and its tireless network of participants and collaborators, as well as founders Ethan Zuckerman and Rebecca MacKinnon.  Global Voices has just launched its new website this afternoon!

The organization defines itself as a non-profit global citizens' media project, but plainly, it is a distributer of the world's messages.  The site acts as an aggregator of voices from every region of the world and provides local insight into politics, culture, current events, and more.

In addition to curating the world's blogs, Global Voices also reaches out to communities to train prospective and current bloggers, and serves as a tireless advocate for the human rights inherent in the freedom of speech that come with unedited blogging.

Global Voices was the 2006 recipient of the Knight-Batten Grand Prize for Innovations in Journalism and over the past 2 years has grown from an idea to an international network of staff, contributors, and volunteers.
