Registration Opens for Global Internet Filtering Conference

In its first public conference since research began in late 2005, the OpenNet Initiative (ONI) will be gathering at member institution, University of Oxford, "to discuss the current state of play of Internet filtering worldwide."

ONI's ultimate goal "is to generate a credible picture of (Internet filtering) practices at a national, regional and corporate level, and to excavate their impact on state sovereignty, security, human rights, international law, and global governance."

The May conference will take the results and conclusions of the project's first global study of Internet filtering, weighing their impact and consequences on societies both within countries with filtering practices and those that have unfiltered access to the Internet.

You can register online for one of the limited spaces available, and on the conference wiki, also view the agenda, venue information and logisitics.
