Youtube Fostering Discussions on Numerous Issues

Whether it's legal debates, copyright controversies, or viral media in general, most conversations of late seem to be coming back to Youtube, Google's wildly popular video-sharing site.

This morning on NPR's "On Point with Tom Ashbrook," Berkman Center Executive Director John Palfrey joined other experts in the fields of the Internet, commerce, and law to discuss Viacom's billion dollar lawsuit against Youtube, its validity, and the repercussions it could have on Internet media.

As posted earlier today, Wendy Seltzer's battle with the NFL over the fair use of a video clip hosted by Youtube, is revealing the shortcomings of DMCA guidelines as well as the dillema that Youtube faces being in the middle of such a conflict.

And additionally, today's Washington Post cites Berkman Fellow David Weinberger, who spoke with them regarding the latest political attack ad posted to Youtube.  Viral media, particularly, the type that targets politicians can be quite damaging and David lends his expertise to how this situation can best be handled.
