Stepping Up Security

The Berkman Center recently welcomed Microsoft's Associate General Counsel, Ira Rubenstein, to discuss privacy policies from the perspective of the corporation and the consumer.  Ira's presentation and participant's response were recorded and are available for viewing online.

Following the visit, Berkman Affiliate Ben Adida noted on his blog that "in a world where Google stores your data and the privacy implications are murky at best, Microsoft has a fascinating competitive advantage."

This week however, Google outlined its plans for improving their privacy practices, which include making "data much more anonymous, so that it can no longer be identified with individual users, after 18-24 months."

Ben has provided some food for thought following Google's statement.
