Discussing Generativity

Prof. Jonathan Zittrain recently posted his article, "The Generative Internet" to Groklaw and has since received a lot of useful feedback and commentary. His original post is here and a FAQ he posted today to address many readers questions is here.  If you've read his article and would like to jump into the discussion, please visit Groklaw.

About "The Generative Internet": A cornerstone of Berkman's research agenda is the preservation of the Internet's openness through code and law. Zittrain's piece defines what makes the Internet so "generative," with special attention to its endpoints -- the modern PC. Zittrain describes a consumer backlash to PCs in response to security threats that live off the open net.  For a more involved introduction, check out the abstract.
