Summer Opportunities at Berkman's European Affiliates

Are you a law student seeking a summer internship? An advanced degree student seeking summer study in a new environment? Berkman's friends at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland and at the Oxford Internet Institute at Oxford University in the UK have exciting summer opportunities available.

The Research Center for Information Law at the Univ. of St. Gallen welcomes applications from Berkman-affiliated students for a 2006 summer internship as part of an exchange program with the Berkman Center for Internet & Society. If you would like to spend two or three months in Switzerland (German language skills helpful, but not required) and work on a transatlantic research project on digital media, please submit your full CV and a motivation letter via email to James Thurman at james.thurman -AT- unisg.ch For further information, please contact Berkman Fellow Urs Gasser

The Summer Doctoral Program at the Oxford Internet Institute is conducted and organized in collaboration with long-standing  partners from both the Berkman Center and the Creative Industries Faculty at Queensland University of Technology. The SDP consists of wide ranging daily research seminars facilitated by leading academics, informal student research presentations, focused break-out sessions, and a host of social activities. The Program will facilitate deep discussion of both methodological and substantive research issues, and will endeavor to help students frame their research questions and direct their research. It will also seek to generate dialogue and debate between students from different disciplinary backgrounds on key themes, drawing on Oxford courses and OII's research expertise in its four focal areas: Technology and Institutional Innovation; Science, Learning and Networks; Everyday Life; and Shaping, Governing  and Regulating the Internet. For more information, please see the SDP website.
