Brad Patrick is outside counsel to the Wikimedia Foundation and practices with the Tampa, FL law firm of Fowler White Boggs Banker in its Intellectual Property and Technology Group.  A civil litigator, Brad brings experience in traditional tort and liability defense, not-for-profit governance, software implementation, community leadership, intellectual property concerns, and a love of computing and libraries to his work with the Foundation.  Brad advises the Board on matters of domestic corporate law, potential litigation, intellectual property portfolio concerns, and strategic planning.  Given the phenomenal growth of Wikipedia, long-range planning is becoming an increasingly important aspect of Foundation business, including how best to manage, in no particular order: the dynamic tension between volunteer involvement and Board responsibility; core projects; outside threats; and wikivangelism throughout the world.
