Today's luncheon series event

Today's guest speaker is Daniell Krawczyk of DigitalBicycle.

Daniell will present a demo of the DigitalBicycle and talk more broadly about the role of digital technology and p2p distribution in community  media. The DigitalBicycle is a collaborative project dedicated to making it easier for Community Media and Technology Centers, as well as independent media producers, to distribute media content amongst themselves. Using BitTorrent, RSS, MPEG4, and web community software (Drupal), DigitalBicycle hopes to eliminate the barriers of physical distribution and increase collaboration between partners in distanced communities.

The DigitalBicycle has been working closely with the Project for Open Source Media (POSM) to develop set-top seed boxes, connecting to the internet on one end and a television on the other. These boxes will allow you to subscribe to content, play it back, and interact with the web community using your remote control and may eventually let you curate programming on local cable access channel from home.
