Trust, Civil Society, and Economic Development

The third session of the Gruter-Berkman Roundtable Series -- "From Personal to Impersonal Trusted Exchange in Physical and Digital Domains: An Evolutionary Perspective" -- will focus on Trust, Civil Society and Economic Development. Paul Zak, Professor of Economics at Claremont Graduate University and Director of The Center for Neuro-economic Studies, will be the primary speaker. Respondents include Roger Kennedy, former Director of the Smithsonian Institute; Ethan Zuckerman, Berkman Fellow; Oliver Goodenough, Research Fellow of the Gruter Institute; and John H. Clippinger, Berkman Fellow. Discussion will focus on new neurophysiological research about trust and the legal, social, economic, and environmental factors that cause trust to be high or low.
