Awards for Digital Pioneers

Last week, Public Knowledge, a nonprofit advocacy group in DC, hosted its first ever IP3 Awards to honor excellence in the three IPs -- intellectual property, information policy, and internet protocols. Representative Rick Boucher (VA) won for his support of fair use and consumer rights. Brewster Kahle received an award for his pioneering work on the Internet Archive. And DJ Danger Mouse won for The Grey Album, an alum that remixes samples of Jay-Z's Black Album and the Beatles' White Album for a sound entirely his own. Danger Mouse wasn't available to accept the award, but Kahle and a representative from Boucher's office expressed their thanks to Public Knowledge and their commitment to preserving fair use and an information commons.
