The Washington Post calls it a "bottomless grab bag full of radio pieces." The Public Radio Exchange -- a nonprofit organization based in Cambridge, MA -- is an online clearinghouse for radio producers and listeners to share content directly. While thousands of high-quality audio pieces are produced every year, only a small percentage of these ever make it to public radio airwaves. PRX works around the bottleneck by allowing creators and listeners a place to upload and review pieces. As PRX Executive Director (and Berkman Fellow) Jake Shapiro explained to the Washington Post, PRX offers broadcasters "new ways to connect listeners to the world."
